Welcome Back, Wythe County Public Schools Families!
Welcome back to a new school year! We’re glad you are here, and we are excited for what this year will bring. There are so many great things already happening in our schools, and some big opportunities coming. This year we invite every student and family to help carry forward the positive narrative of Wythe County Public Schools and your individual schools.
I am ready to kick off the school year in a district that has the best administrators, teachers, staff, parents, students, and community partners. Let’s support each other in ensuring all students are provided the best education and school experience possible.
If questions or concerns arise along the way, our solution-based communication guidelines for parents and students can help guide you through that process.
I hope every one of you has a great school year!

2026-2027 WCPS Calendar

Dear Wythe County Families,
As I begin my first week serving as Superintendent of Wythe County Public Schools, I want to take a moment to introduce myself and thank you for the warm welcome I have already received. It is truly an honor and a privilege to lead in a division that has played such an important role in my own professional journey.
Wythe County Public Schools has long been known for its commitment to excellence, strong relationships, and opportunities that help every student succeed. I am grateful for the experiences that helped shape me as an educator and leader, and I am excited for the opportunity to serve the students, families, staff, and community that make this division so special.
As we prepare for an exciting school year, I look forward to working alongside our outstanding teachers and staff, our supportive School Board, our dedicated families, and our valued community partners. Together, we share a common goal: ensuring every student receives a high-quality education that prepares them for success, whether their future leads them to college, military service, technical training, or the workforce.
One of the greatest strengths of Wythe County Public Schools is the partnership between our schools, families, and community. Your support, encouragement, and involvement make a tremendous difference in the lives of our students. I look forward to getting to know many of you in the coming weeks and months as I visit schools and attend events.
While serving as Superintendent, I am committed to listening, learning, and leading with integrity. I believe our best work happens when we work together, always keeping students at the center of every decision we make. While we will continue to honor the traditions that have made Wythe County Public Schools strong, we will also embrace opportunities to help every student learn, grow, and thrive.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children's education. I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to partnering with you as we continue building on the excellence of Wythe County Public Schools.
With appreciation,
Dr. Russell J. Street
